We go a little overboard in making sure our reviews are fair, honest, and as objective as reasonably possible.
(If I cant be myself, then this becomes a job)
I (TechHoleJay) never know where a product comes from.
I don’t know if a product is donated, on loan, or if we purchased it ourselves.
All review requests go through @TechHoleChris, and if there’s anything that I personally want to take a look at, I tell him, and he tries to track it down.
This allows me to go into every review as if we had spent our hard earned money on the product – and I can judge the product accordingly.
I also stay as hands off as I can in knowing details of any sponsorship agreements.
I sincerely believe that nobody can be objective once money starts changing hands and even something as simple as a product ‘donated for review’ will influence a reviewer more than I’m comfortable with.
I know other tech groups are okay with this behavior – but we’re not, and we’re going to act accordingly.
This arrangement allows us to be ourselves. The downside, of course, is that in the process of being honest, we will alienate some sponsors. being honest makes it harder to make a living. Imagine that. Feel free to CLICK HERE and help us remain objective.
